Ears - shaping / pinning

What is otoplasty? Otoplasty is a surgical procedure to set back prominent ears. Prominent ears can be devastating to a person's confidence, and cause them to be the subject of teasing and nicknames.

During surgery, the cartilage of the ears is reshaped to set the ears back closer to the sides of the patient's head.  This surgery takes approximately one hour, and the patient can return home the same day, or remain in hospital overnight.

Who would be suitable for otoplasty? Patients should be physically fit, healthy and well, to minimise risks of having surgery. This surgery is often carried out on children, as well as adults.
